Now I have to make sure I get this posted in the middle of the week, and I have checked the day and date three times so far to make sure I get it right.

Not a bit mix up in the first design.

More mixed up in the second, which I like because it is less boring to make a mixture of blocks rather than 64 identical blocks.

Looks like a willy-willy (or whirlwind) touched down in the sewing room.

This project has variations of all the familiar Log Cabin, Chimneys and Cornerstones, Courthouse Steps and Curved Log Cabins.

Can you pick them all in todays designs?

I wonder how many different combinations are possible with a few colour placement variations are possible with this collection of blocks, and I wonder how many life times would be needed to find them all … though some computer nerd may be able to set up a program, but how long would it take a human to inspect them all!!!

I can see some intriguing ideas in each and every design.

Not the sort of thing I normally share on a Thursday, but that is what happens I don’t finish the first coffee on a Wednesday morning … this week’s mid week retreat got misplaced!

The second one is also interesting … this is what happens if you want to make a Curved Log Cabin quilt in the barn raising layout, but make it a bit different because you have some Courthouse Steps blocks you want to use up.

Now i have a Barnraising Curved Log Cabin with four Courthouse Steps blocks.

I am starting to like what is happening ...

This week’s Log Cabin project file has a collection of different Log Cabin blocks, and the design above is mostly Chimney’s and Cornerstones with and without curves. I like the first design!

Still lots of Chimneys and Cornerstones in the second, but a bit more variety in the Log Cabin variations.

All the ones above have two variations of Courthouse Steps.

Love the one above … my favourite for today!

An interesting design to finish off today.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

I started this project file day while staying in a motel by finding or drafting variations of the Log Cabin block, then finding some fabrics in the EQ Library.

It then got forgotten for nearly two years, until I found it yesterday when I started playing with the blocks.

I find that once I get a collection of blocks together, with fabrics added, the quilt designs flow pretty easily.

It would be interesting to see an exhibition of a large collection of Log Cabin quilts, all different designs, maybe with groups of five to ten using the same fabrics.
